Snowman Oreo Balls recipe

  • Author: Katherine

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pack of Oreo cookies: The classic chocolate flavor provides a rich base for the snowman’s body.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened: This ingredient binds the crushed Oreos together, giving the balls a creamy texture.
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips: Used for coating the snowman balls, the white chocolate gives them a snowy appearance.
  • Mini chocolate chips (for eyes): These add a playful touch to your snowman’s facial features.
  • Orange candies (for noses): Use candy corn, orange M&M’s, or any small orange candy to create the perfect carrot nose.
  • Pretzels (for arms): These provide a whimsical touch and mimic the look of twig arms.

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreo cookies: Start by placing the Oreo cookies in a large mixing bowl. You can use a food processor to crush them into fine crumbs to ensure a smooth texture. If you prefer, put the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Combine with cream cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the crushed Oreos. Using a spatula or your hands, mix until the ingredients are well combined and form a dough-like consistency. The mixture should be moldable and hold together without crumbling.
  3. Form the balls: Roll the mixture into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you want to make larger snowmen, you can create two different sized balls for the body and head.
  4. Chill the balls: Freeze the Oreo balls for about 15 minutes. This step helps the balls hold their shape when dipped in chocolate. If you’re short on time, refrigerating them for about 30 minutes also works.
  5. Melt the white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips. Heat them in short intervals (about 30 seconds), stirring in between each interval, until smooth and fully melted. Be cautious not to overheat the chocolate, as it can burn.
  6. Coat the balls: Dip each ball in the melted white chocolate, ensuring they are completely coated. Use a fork to lift the balls out of the chocolate, allowing excess to drip off before placing them back on the baking sheet.
  7. Let the chocolate set: Allow the coated balls to set. This process can take about 30 minutes at room temperature or quicker in the refrigerator. You can also place them in the freezer for about 10 minutes to speed up the setting process.
  8. Decorate your snowmen: Once the chocolate has hardened, use mini chocolate chips for the eyes, orange candies for the noses, and broken pretzels for the arms. Press gently to secure them in place. For added flair, consider using edible glitter or colored sugar to give your snowmen some sparkle.
